Mindfulness Exercises for Teaching

December 3, 2020

At the start of every precept I taught this semester, I invited my students to complete a short mindfulness activity with me.

For up to five minutes, I encouraged students to turn off their cameras and either participate in the exercise or use the time to do whatever would help them learn best that day.

Here are some of the resources I used, but please send me your suggestions!

  • 1-minute meditation (this website has many more that I used)
  • Self-compassion break (longer but worth it)
  • Headspace (I used meditations available with the premium subscription — they have a student deal that is $9.99/year — but they have plenty of free exercises, too)
